COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMOR RESEARCH FUND
Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death in children. To address this issue, we have established the Columbia University
Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund (CUPBTRF) [www.KidsBrainResearch.org]. As physicians and researchers, our goal is twofold.
First, we hope to raise awareness of pediatric brain tumors and communicate the magnitude of their impact on children’s
health. Second, through continued research in pediatric neurooncology, we strive to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and
treatment of pediatric brain tumors.
Through continued fundraising, the Columbia University Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund will support a full-time post-doctoral
research fellow in Columbia University’s Department of Neurological Surgery, committed to state-of-the-art investigations
pertaining to the neurobiology, pathophysiology, and epidemiology of children’s brain tumors. It is only with such
efforts that meaningful scientific advancements can be obtained and hopefully encourage young investigators to pursue this
avenue of research.
The Columbia University Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund will be governed by a committee composed of individuals dedicated
to improving the outcomes of children afflicted with this disease. This committee will be directly responsible for overseeing
the Columbia University Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund.
